WORKSHOP A: Library Survival Skills Library Survival Skills

Target for new students

This workshop introduces students to the resources and services available at the MPI Library. New students are urged to take this workshop to get themselves familiar with the Library.

WORKSHOP B: Finding Useful Information from E-Databases Finding Useful Information from E-Databases

Target for 2nd year or above undergraduate students

This workshop introduces to students database searching skills. It includes research topic analysis, databases selection and search results management. It will also select most appropriate electronic resources for students from different courses.

WORKSHOP C: Organizing Your Research Materials with Bibliographic Management Tool Organizing Your Research Materials with Bibliographic Management Tool

Target for 2nd year or above undergraduate students/postgraduate students

This workshop teaches students the importance of citation and how to build accurate citations using APA style for bibliographies of research papers. It also provides a basic introduction on how to use RefWorks that enables students to organize bibliographic information and produce reference lists.

WORKSHOP D: Finding E-Books@the Library Finding E-Books@the Library

Target for 2nd year or above undergraduate students/postgraduate students

MPI Library has hundreds of thousands of e-books, with titles in all subject areas. This workshop will cover finding e-books in Library collection and how to use and manipulate them. Students will be able to set up their own account, learn to take digital notes, use bookmarks, get citations, and more.

Target for postgraduate students

This hands-on workshop is designed for postgraduate students and will introduce discipline-related library resources and effective strategies for finding, retrieving and evaluating information. It also covers some citation databases that will help to conduct the academic research more efficiently and effectively.

Target for postgraduate students

You will learn from this workshop how to search, locate and access dissertations and theses that are relevant to your research work via Library subscribed databases and web resources.
